I am thrilled this happened.

About 2 years ago, in an effort to preserve a letter to my mother from Moritz Thomsen, I uploaded it to my Flickr account. I was looking at it the other day and noticed it had some links. This was one (below). It is interesting that the people who used it in the annotated bibliography, without permission I may add, NEVER asked how I came to have it. I have stories, plenty. Apparently there is a conference about him in the summer... frankly, while it interests me, I can't help but think that Moritz might have been horrified.

Image above captured without permission but hosted responsibly.

Found at this site. Linked without permission.

Here is where I blogged about it before.

Here is the post with the photo about the sushi incident mentioned in my previous post

Hi, and thanks for the comment on my blog. I see you found your way to the Liberarte page. I think you're right, Moritz would have been horrified by the idea of the convention. Or half-horrified, anyway. Some small part of him might have been flattered as well. As uneasy as he was with fame and celebrity, I think he liked the recognition his writing got and wished it had gotten more.

I really enjoyed the letter you scanned and would love to hear more about your interactions with Moritz. Best, Pat
